The Albufeira Strip is without a doubt where you’ll be spending most of your nights while you’re here. It won’t take long to find your favourite spots, and before you know it, you’ll be hitting them up every night with your group!
The Albufeira Strip, officially known as Avenida Sá Carneiro, is flat and super easy to get around—perfect for bar hopping without the uphill battle! The main stretch runs for about 800 meters and is packed on both sides with a mix of buzzing bars, lively pubs, and late-night clubs. Don’t be afraid to explore the side streets too—there are loads of hidden gems tucked away just off the Strip. You’ll also find plenty of great places to grab a bite, from quick snacks to hangover-curing burgers. And if you’re looking for big nights out, Albufeira doesn’t disappoint—with hotspots like Club Tropicana just a short walk away.

Where is the Albufeira Strip?
The Albufeira Strip is located in the Montechoro area on the southern coast of Portugal, in the Algarve region. It’s around a 35–40 minute drive from Faro Airport, making it easily accessible for most holidaymakers.
The Strip, officially known as Avenida Sá Carneiro, stretches through a lively area packed with bars, clubs, and restaurants. It’s just a short walk from the beach, and some venues, especially at the southern end, offer sea views and outdoor terraces perfect for sunset drinks.
Much like some other popular resorts, traffic is restricted in the evenings along parts of the Strip, so it becomes a pedestrian-friendly zone at night. That makes it ideal for bar-hopping or just enjoying the atmosphere without dodging cars. If you’re arriving late and staying near the Strip, your transfer might take a bit longer due to route adjustments.
You’ll meet your reps shortly after arriving—they’ll point out the best spots, give you the local dos and don’ts, and help you get settled into the nightlife scene quickly!

If you’re up for getting out and about, you’ll find everything from souvenir shopping and escape rooms to jet-skiing and parasailing down by the beach. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, why not hop in a taxi or tuk-tuk and explore the nearby Old Town? It’s packed with charming streets, local markets, and chilled-out beach bars.
If you’re feeling a bit worse for wear and need a recovery day, the main beach at Praia da Oura is just a short stroll from the Strip. It’s perfect for lying in the sun, grabbing a bite at one of the beachfront cafés, or just sleeping off the night before under a parasol. Most hotels around here also have great pool scenes if you’d rather stay close to your base and keep things low-key.
In Albufeira, many small shops, including tobacco shops, may close for lunch (typically from 1 PM to 3 PM) and earlier in the evening. However, in tourist areas like The Strip, shops often stay open later, especially during peak seasons.

Hotels near the Albufeira Strip
Albufeira is packed with hotels ready to host thousands of partygoers every year. As one of the most popular resorts on the Algarve, rooms can fill up fast—especially during peak season. To avoid missing out on your top choice, make sure to get your holiday booked early!
When you check in, you’ll need to pay a Municipal Tourist Tax. This tax is charged per night and depends on the time of year and your length of stay. It’s usually no more than €2 per person, per night—a small cost for a big week.
It’s also very common in party resorts like Albufeira for hotels to require a refundable room deposit, typically around €50 per person. As long as there’s no damage (and no surprise foam parties in your room!), you’ll get this back at check-out after a quick room inspection. So be smart the night before—leave enough time to check out properly and make it to the airport without drama.
You’ll likely find a damages list in your room, so give it a glance and take care of the place. This is your base for the week—treat it right so your spending money goes on cocktails, not replacing chairs!
